Fic: Always Read the Fine Print, Part 1/?

Title: Always Read the Fine Print
Fandom: Dr Quinn: Medicine Woman
Rating: PG (will be R later on)
Pairing: Michaela/Sully, Michaela/Hank
Summary: Based on one of the prompts from the kink meme - Hank getting Dr Mike to sign a contract with him, and Sully has to rescue her.

Michaela Quinn was exhausted. She added the signature to the bottom of the last document, her eyes blurring with tiredness. She hadn't even bothered to read the last few, she'd have to check them tomorrow. She stretched and glanced guiltily at the files she hadn’t gotten around to reviewing. They’d just have to wait. She was just about to gather up her things when a noise made her glance up.

Hank was leaning against a doorframe, looking happier than she’d ever seen him.

“Paperwork alright, Michaela?”

“Yes, thank you Hank.” She frowned. It wasn’t like Hank to be so polite. She motioned for him to come in. “Are you feeling alright?”

The door swung shut behind him, but instead of perching awkwardly on the edge of her operating table the way he usually did when needed medical attention, he made his way over to her desk. He leaned over her, and before she had a chance to speak, he snatched up the pile of papers and started rifling through them with uncharacteristic interest.

She tried to snatch them back, but he held them up, taunting her.

“Hank, those are confidential documents! They’re private, they concern my patients –“

“This one doesn’t.”

She blinked. “What?”

“This one here. It ain’t nothing to do with your practice, Michaela.” A slow grin spread across his face. “Did you even read it? Or were you in such a rush to get home to Sully that you just signed everything without even lookin’ at it?”

She paled. “What exactly did I sign?”

Hank shrugged. “I only did it for a joke. Thought you’d come storming into the saloon the way you always do, tellin’ me what a lowlife piece of work I am. You know, I think you kinda enjoy our little fights, Michaela. Which is good, seein’ as I think we’re about to have a lot more when you come to work for me.”

“When I do what?”

He held the piece of paper just out of reach, just close enough that she could read it. She’d seen it before, or one like it, when she’d tried to talk Hank into tearing up Myra’s contract. He’d refused then, but surely he wasn’t going to hold her to this. Was he?

“Contract’s effective immediately. You gonna make your way over of your own accord, or am I going to have to carry you?”

Dr Hooker!

It's very well-written, even if I only understand 50% of the words. As I said, put it on HBO with Dr Quinn Professional Whore and you'll have quite the audience.

I know you have trouble with the long ones. But you're doing so much better now! I'm really proud of you.
